I was going to put up another "essentials" post this morning, showing these favorite shoes, purchased in 1985 or 1986, and worn every summer since, but alas, when I went to wear them yesterday, I discovered that they were too small. This should not come as a surprise, I have written about how my feet have grown and many pairs of beloved shoes have been sent off to find new homes, and yet it was a surprise, as these shoes somehow occupied a sphere apart from that place in my head and heart labeled shoes.
The simple truth is that they are a size 8 and I am now a 9, sometimes a 9 1/2. How they survived this long is a mystery as I haven't worn an 8 since I was in my 20's but I do believe that perhaps they did indeed still fit during those many years where I wore an 8 1/2. But not now. My feet overflow them like Cinderella's evil step-sisters' feet in the glass slippers, and I've always harbored a tiny kernel of disdain for women whose feet are obviously overflow too small shoes. I can't join their sisterhood now.
They have a few dings and dents but are otherwise in good shape. I'm am sure they will find a new home. It would certainly gladden my heart were I ever so lucky as to see them walking down the street someday gracing a new pair of feet.

They are darling! Alas, I haven’t worn a size 8 since 4th grade. At 5’3″ tall, it is a bit alarming to me how my feet can keep growing. Whoever heard of a petite with 9.5/10 feet? Oh well, I suppose they will ground me and keep me from tipping over as I age.
Big feet, big feet, oh how they change our looks and lives. We know all about menopause, but losing our best shoes??? ACK
A sad good-bye, but just think, now you have room for a new pair!
My oldest pair of shoes are perhaps 8 years old, maybe 9 or 10. Luckily (knock on wood) my feet don’t seem to be growing, wavering between 7.5 and 8. Just enough too small not to fit my most-borrowing daughter, thank heavens!
Oh that’s a shame. I love sandals with straps and those are pretty.
My feet are changing too, but not in size. They injure more easily.
That foot growing thing is a real imposition! Those are lovely shoes but it will give you chances to buy entirely new lovely shoes 🙂

Losing a great pair of shoes is a very sad thing, but your wording made me roar with laughter.
OMG, I think I have to get rid of a maybe 10-year-old pair of shoes that I adore because it seems the shoemaker who was supposed to do minor repairs stretched them, instead of stretching the other pair of shoes he was supposed to stretch. I’m so upset!
A thought just crossed my mind and i wonder how real it could be.You need to ask yourself what is the best way to train your military than with live fire type
