This is spring?
Not as bad as predicted, only about 4 inches, but heavy wet stuff. It is starting to fall off the trees already.
I thought more about the Di Gilpin book while riding around in the plow at midnight with George. He needed an extra pair of eyes to spot over the corner of the plow in the dark blinding snow, it is a big truck after all, but otherwise I did not have much to do but sit there, so of course my mind wandered.
The only things in the book I would knit without major reworking would be the first two, the Lines Scarf, which is cute but I wouldn’t buy a book for one scarf, and the Seol Jumper which is very handsome, especially in the two color version and would make a great man’s sweater or even women’s for that matter. It is one of the most fitted sweaters in the book and although it has drop sleeves, they may work in this instance, or they could probably adapted to a modified drop. Of the remaining sweaters in the book, I like the color patterning in the Alchi Jacket, Jazz, and Little Wings and think these could be adapted with finer yarns and some reworking.
All in all I don’t generally regret that the book was sent to me even though I might not have bought it individually; I have these subscriptions because I find all kind of things I would never otherwise see and have received many great books and wonderful patterns. I can’t help it I seem to be a book slut be it knitting books, cookbooks, or probably any books for that matter. In all fairness, looking at the list of things I found interesting or inspiring in some way, the book is fairly a worthwhile addition to my knitting library.
