After the big push of November and Early December, my progress with the house has slowed considerably. Of course I am no longer the only one in residence so I can't be up banging and moving things at all hours either, but I am very happy for the company, even if the pace of change is slower. We are still waiting for half the floors to be installed, and they are scheduled for late next month. In the meantime I wait.
But there are still small bits of beauty and peace.
I unearthed these rock crystal candle holders from the back of a closet, amazed that I had ever stored them away. They are now my winter centerpiece on the dining table and they make me smile every time I see them. It seems like the light is different every time I pass.
Each one holds a votive candle or a tea light, and they are somewhat awkward to light, requiring long fireplace matches or spark to get them going without singing the fingers. Their crystalline presence echoes the cold whiteness in evidence outside the windows, but at the same time when lit, they are both warm and cold, a very inviting combination of fire and ice.

I love these! Do you remmeber where you bought them?
Tina, I got them in a store in NYC on Madison Avenue which is no longer there, or I would love to help. They weigh a ton.

Beautiful unlit and I am sure just magical when glowing.
Thank you. One of my goals for this year is to learn to use my camera, beyond the realm of just point-and-shoot. Capturing this when lit is one of those things that motivates me to finally learn to use a camera.
i LOVE them. They are a perfect fusion of warm and cold.
Wow! Those are beautiful! I bet they’re very interesting when lit.
They are beautiful.
They have fake votive candles now that are LED that are perfect for things like this that are hard to light. You just turn them on and in something like this you can’t tell they run on a battery.
Oh, Mardel, they are just gorgeous, almost magical! I use a barbecue lighter to light my candles, couldn’t live with it.
I love the little bits of amber-brown in the crystals, which seem to glow more with a candle, but I cant manage to capture that with my poor camera skills.
Ive been thinking I need a barbecue lighter. Now I have a good reason.
Lois, I had no idea.
Thank you Nancy
I like the shape of these. They are too beautiful to be hidden away in a closet.
Finding something exciting from the back of your closet, is the only positive ( I know, there are others too ) thing, about not having decluttered your stuff for some time! Enjoy! If you have the energy, I warmly recommend some more decluttering !
I adore symbols that invite complexity, fire and ice at the same time. That is big symbolic stuff. And they are gorgeous. Wish I had some treasures like that in my closet as it would motivate me to clean it.
Happy weekend, lovely!
xoxo
OMG Mardel, I will not rest until I find two rock crystal centerpieces like those! I WANT THOSE CRYSTALS!!
