What:  Green Turquoise Necklace by Patricia von Muselin

IMG_4930

Why: Although generally I do best with the cool greens, there are certain yellow greens that are very good on me.  They bring out the greens in my eyes, they balance the pinky-blue-lilacs in my skin.  This green is one of those greens, as are certain shades of olive, and a particular green that my brother dubbed "urpy green" when we were children.

This green makes me happy.  It is a spring green and I see it primarily as a summer necklace.  Summer is hard for me.  Many of the large dramatic pieces I am drawn too seem to be too much in the summer.  But this is not too much.  It plays well with white, and soft blues, and all the purples and lavenders that populate my wardrobe.

As you can see, it is a very close match to my new alpaca scarf.  In fact, it was the necklace that inspired me to make the scarf.  I would sit in the yarn shop knitting and talking to my friends and I would stare at that green alpaca, thinking to myself that it was the same color as that green necklace and wouldn't a green scarf be just the perfect thing.  And so it is.

I don’t see why you shouldn’t have a warm weather necklace in the same color as a cool weather scarf. It’s a season spanning wardrobe.
I think that’s an unusual green turquoise in the necklace. Often the greens I’ve seen have been darker and blueish.
I have red tones in my face and like to wear that light green because it doesn’t make me look pinker than I already am.

Very clever of you to have a summer necklace AND a cooler-weather scarf in the same flattering and happy-making colour!

That’s a perfect match. And I really do love that scarf…

Thank you Susan, Mater, and K-Line.  I do think having both is brilliant, although it took me a while to convince myself.

Rose, I havent seen that shade of green in a turquoise necklace either, which is part of why I love it so much.  I love turquoise but many of the shades are not quite right for me.  Not that has stopped me.

    Hello, Mardel!
I’ve enjoyed your Blog for quite some time…stumbled on it through one of the other sewing blogs I lurk around. I’ve been lusting after your scarf…and now your necklace is inspiring major envy.
Anyway, I just had to comment on your love for this shade of green. I’m a green-eyed blonde…with cool skin tones like you…and I LOVE yellow-green, as well. Pair it with a pretty shade of violet and I’m a goner. Do you remember when everyone was having their “colors done?” As a “Summer,” I was told that this was a color that I absolutely could NOT wear…and yet it seems to do something for me. Go figure!
This week I’m starting a new project…a sixties-style shift with bell sleeves…in yellow-green jersey! Take that, “Color Me Beautiful!”
    Have a wonderful weekend…
    Kathy
