The Rhinebeck Farmer’s Market opened this weekend, two weeks earlier than in the past. I had been worried about what I would find; it is, after all, a litle early for produce in Dutchess county.
However, the mushroom guy was there and I scored I nice bunch of beeea-yooooo-ti-ful shiitakes, which we ate yesterday with fresh asparagus from the garden, and this gigundous cluster of oyster mushrooms:
These were roasted and stir-fried tonight with beef and an oyster/chili garlic sauce. Mmm good. Migliorelli farm was also open and their bok-choy graced our table as well.
I haven’t been keeping you informed of the joys of spring which have been gracing our table of late, bad blogging I guess. Wild Salmon and soft-shells, not local of course, and the local treats: ramps, fiddleheads, asparagus, morels, shad…. well, the shad season seemed very short this year.
More goodness to come.
