A Dash of Daring was a fun, entertaining read about a very interesting woman. Not many remember Carmel Snow, she was a star before fashion editors and magazine editors were stars. Still, reading her biography one can easily see how much of the fashion publishing business, the role played by editors and the fashion industry was created in large part by her influence.
It is a fascinating read, and lots of fun too, there is enough juicy gossip mixed with the fact and the photographs to keep one wildly entertained. Although it is not a particularly serious book, and the writing is not stellar, it IS a lot of fun.
If you are interrested in fashion, or fashion magazines, this book is highly recommended.
