My Bags are Packed

But I am not going anywhere, except to the hospital.  G's surgery is tomorrow at 7:45.  We are supposed to be in line for an ice storm so I want to have everything ready to go tomorrow AM bright and early.

My clothes are out, my breakfast is packed, and all I have to do is make coffee and get dressed.

I have two knitting projects:

Linden will stay in my big knitting bag in the car for later in the day, when G gets moved to a regular room, or I am slightly less distracted.  It is progressing well.  I will finish the left front either tonight or tomorrow.

Since I need something simple, mindless, and fool-proof to knit during surgery I have these three skeins of Artful Yarns Reality and some double points at the ready.

I need to knit a pair of boot-liners and I think this will be just perfect.

I don't actually know if I will get a lot of knitting done while I wait on the surgery or not.   The Ladies Surgical Sitting Society is meeting, provided the weather cooperates, and I will probably be jollied along enough not to knit too much.  I feel tremendously grateful to have this group of friends to fall back on.

Of course once I know that G has come through surgery and the crowd has disbanded and I am just waiting, there will be more than plenty of knitting opportunity.  I also have my ipod and several books packed. I don't believe I think it is possible to be over-packed or over-prepared for anything.

InterweaveWinter2008
When I still thought there would be knitting group tonight, and I was sorting through a pile of incoming magazines, knitting patterns, catalogs and the like that I have been meaning to get put away, I noticed that the new Interweave Knits had come.

I guess I was aware that it had come; I had looked at the cover before, but I don't recall it actually registering.

I looked at it last night.  Perhaps I was just as underwhelmed the first time I thumbed through so I suppressed it.  There are some perfectly acceptable patterns but really not much that sings to me or cries out to be made.

Welt and Rib Raglan

The only pattern I actually like and think I might wear someday is the welt and rib raglan, shown here.

The pattern is written for Manos del Uruguay's merino/silk blend which sounds very luscious and yummy.  And we know of my weakness for all things involving a turtleneck.

But I am trying (unsuccessfully so far) to wean myself away from the turtles this fall, and this is not therefore on my must knit for winter 08/09.  It goes on the more amorphous, most knit someday list.
