Pointy Kitty was received by my partner and can finally be revealed.

Tomorrow I go into NYC to meet my friend and sewing buddy Mary.  Usually we meet at Mood but we both admitted that we need no more fabric.  The meeting place is yet to be determined.  Will we fall into familiar habits and shop for fabric anyway?

Everything is gathered for the day and clothes have been selected.  Tomorrow I catch an early (for me anyway) train at 8:05.

Wardrobe: yellow linen pants from last summer, white shirt from the summer before that(pre-blog), pink and orange scarf purchased somewhere sometime, coral cameo,  and pink shoes.

Do you think I will be colorful enough?

  • BackTack Bunny

A package arrived yesterday, a package all the way from Hawaii! I was very excited as I knew it must be my back tack softie from BabyBug!

It is very cute and soft and cuddly,  it cries out to be held in a small hand.  I am sure that bunny misses  its first home.   Pointy kitty is happy to have a companion however, and I believe they are becoming fast friends.

Bunny came with a companion package of wonderful Hawaiian goodies which were totally unexpected, and wonderfully yummy (I confess I ripped into the caramel popcorn faster than you can say "back-tack".)

    Backtackgoodies

Not only yummy, but I love the riot of colors.  So bright and cheerful!  Exactly what I need following the continued saga of gray rainy days.  A little bit of summer in pretty wrappers.

    Bye Bye, bunny…

  • Handwork

I spent a good amount of time on Back Tack this weekend, no sewing for me. Assembling the kitty was quick and easy, a little practice certainly helped and this time the resulting kitty was much more athletic looking and adult.  Here’s a teasing peak:

    and a partial facial view:

This kitty is a lean and elegant princess of a kitty, no awkward kitten here.  As such she needed a few big girl trinkets.  And here is where all my time is going.  It has been a long time since I have any bead embroidery, and I had forgotten how much time is involved.  Oh its fun.  I am having a blast.  But progress is painfully slow.

I don’t have a macro feature on this camera and apparently this shot was too close.  You get the idea anyway, I’m sure.

Just a peek at what is in the works for back-tack:

I signed up for back-tack3 and I am Sooo excited!

I have never done anything like this, and although I primarily like sewing clothes I admit to sometimes doing other things.   I received match-ups and I will be making a softie for Justine  and babybug will be making one for me.  I think this is really really cool and it is neat to know who your partners are so you can check out their sites.

I think the patterns for the softie, by WeeWonderfuls are just adorable and I am sure I will be making more.

Perhaps I just have softies on the brain due to the thoughts of impending grandmotherhood.  I am dreaming of sewing things I never considered before.  This whole experience sounds like so much fun and is kickng off a whole new series of adventures for me.

Meanwhile dreams of little creatures, both knitted and sewn, are dancing through my head.
