I spent Labor Day laboring, not on the normal, everyday, boring things, but working in my new flower bed:
I have sifted about half of the existing soil. So far I have removed enough gravel and rock to fill the drainage ditch (about 9 cubic feet) and take a buggy load over to fill in the area around the drain channel off our property where the soil has washed away around the drain pipe.
I also started working on planting plans for this bed. I don’t know if they will work, I really don’t have a lot of experience planting perennial beds for sun. Here is what I have come up with so far:
